ALMA found a strikingly straight, 26-light-year trail of heated molecular gas beside LMC P3 in the Large Magellanic Cloud. LMC P3's especially high gamma-ray output gives very strong support for a black hole over a neutron star at its center, Yasuo Fukui said. The trail is about 26 light-years long and three light-years wide, heated to 35 to 60 kelvin against about 15 kelvin for the surrounding gas. In the image, LMC P3 is circled.
